Geometry of a feeling
The human desire to perceive instead of just grasping everything rationally forms the basis for a new basin design from Alape: »Tangens«. Far apart from conventional designs, Tangens presents itself as seduction by design. A clearly defined wave in the basin provides a sensual accent in addition to the puristic lines normally expected from Alape. This confrontation creates something unique, which manifests itself in the whole design.
The character of the new wash basin Tangens is not rationally comprehended; its strong design is intuitively close to the observer. Tangens expresses a sensation – a desire to touch, both emotionally and physically. Its beauty awakens the senses and creates an extraordinary geometry, which makes feelings tangible. The observer’s eye is drawn to the wave, which appears to split the basin in two halves. The rolling design of the separating line invites you to touch it. Its sensuality is captivating. The basin’s appearance changes depending on where it is viewed from. From a distance it appears deep; it is only when we approach it that we see that there are in fact two different levels. The clear, precise lines that are generally expected from Alape remain unchanged. The exterior shape is also extremely geometric. In this way, Tangens combines purism and emotion in a harmonious whole.
Tangens was designed by Alape’s design partner Lykouria Design / London. The new basin design is available in the size 700 x 385 mm as a built-in basin, an undermounted basin or a sit-on basin made of glassed steel. It integrates seamlessly into Alape’s Components System for the design of individual washplaces.
