Straight lines for the ritual bath
The new washplaces in the Metaphor series by Alape stand in line with the architectural tradition of bathing rituals where baths are a source of purity and well-being. Reduced, straight-line design makes the washplaces archaic and clear. Metaphor stands out not only with the purity of its geometric form but also with the well conceived functionality of basin and furniture. Altogether the product encompasses floor-standing washplaces for the main bathroom and wall-mounting washplaces for the guest bathroom.
Metaphor opens up new architectural design possibilities. The floor-standing washplace acts as sculptural reference point and can be positioned freely in the room or against the wall. The purist design language of the Metaphor basin is based on glassed steel and impressively demonstrates the advantages of this unique material: precision, planeness and resilience.
Functional quality in detail
The generously designed sit-on basin rests on a furniture base of the same width and depth. Particular attention has been paid here to the insides and to the workmanship witnessed in the details of the furniture, underlining Metaphor's premium claim: the two drawers one on top of the other contain storage space of differing sizes. In the upper section, an inner drawer offers additional storage space. American oak has been chosen as wood decor for the washplace measuring altogether 1,000 x 900 x 375 mm (w x h x d).
In addition, Metaphor gives you a new experience in the bath. An optional tray slides onto the edge of the basin to act as additional storage space. A towel holder underlining Metaphor's functional design is positioned either to the left or right of the washplace.
Compact furniture for the guest bathroom
Metaphor offers a special variation for the guest bathroom: the glassed steel basin is fitted almost without any seams in a compact wall-mounted cupboard unit with American oak surface. The unit measuring 400 mm in height conceals the technical installations completely. The washplace is available with the basin positioned on the right or left. An integrated towel holder is then fitted to the other side for guest towels. Metaphor washplaces for guest bathrooms are also available either with or without tap fitting hole (for standing or wall-mounted tap system) measuring 775 x 400 x 269 mm (w x h x d).
Variations for the component system
In accordance with Alape's product philosophy, Metaphor comes not only in the all-in washplace solutions but also as individual sit-on basins in three dimensions. Individual systems can thus be planned together with the component systems consisting of base plate, drawers and mirror. The sit-on basin is available in widths of 1000, 750 and 500 mm with a depth of 375 mm.
